Kumar Shahani at CUSAT


A week with Kumar Shahani - Theatre / Lectures | interactions | training camps |screening films

Kumar Shahani, one of the most important filmmakers working in India today, will visit Kerala in the last week of September. TheDepartment of Youth Welfare, Cochin University of Science andTechnology have invited him to the state under the eruditeprogramme of the Government during 24th – 30th September 2011 tothe Cochin University of Science and Technology campus.

Kumar Shahani is a filmmaker who has been able to carve an aestheticpath and create a new cinematic language that is very much his ownand as iconoclastic as his colleague, Mani Kaul. The two of them arelargely responsible for the development of the 'New Indian Cinema' orthe 'Indian New Wave' in creating an avant-garde cinema whoseideology was vastly different from the aesthetics of mainstreamcinema as it was prevalent then.During the period of visit, he will be taking sessions on theatre/filmsfor students and scholars, interacting with students, scholars, theatreactivists, actors and directors across the state.
